15 Jan My debut in DD2 in Dubai… what a race!!
This weekend I made my debut in the DD2 category thanks to the Kart Advisor Academy Team, and it was truly an amazing experience. It was my first race in this category against drivers with much more specific experience. After some tests with the team in the weeks leading up to the race, we hit the track convinced that we could perform well, and indeed we did. A less than optimal qualification forced me to start all three heats from P11 and push hard every lap to recover positions. In one of the heats, we came close to the podium (P4), qualifying for the Pre-Final in P5. Unfortunately, during the Pre-Final, I was involved in an incident with another driver which caused the red flag to come out. After a few minutes, we restarted, but due to the incident, I was penalized by 10 seconds, finishing the heat only in P9. In the Final, I gave it my all despite having a sore hand from the incident, but due to the very unfair behavior of an opponent (later disqualified from the race), I received another 5 seconds penalty, finishing in P6 instead of P5. Maybe next time… thanks to everyone who supports me.
